Why are you called 'Magenpie'?
I am often asked why I chose the name 'Magenpie' so I thought I would explain.
It originates from Gerald Durrell's wonderful book "My Family and Other Animals", in which he documents his families move to Corfu when he was a child. Gerald has two pet magpies which their Greek companion, Spiros, refers to one day as the "magenpies".
Some of the most memorable parts of the book for me are the Magenpies repeated bids for freedom set against the young Durrell's growing awareness of the natural world. It reminds me of all those of us who struggle with being trapped indoors and are desperate to get outside.
